(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Michael Jackson referred to Propofol as "milk", Dr. Conrad Murray revealed to police.

Murray's interview with Los Angeles Police Department detectives recorded two days after the singer's death in June 2009 was played in court Friday.

Murray is currently on trial for Jackson's involuntary manslaughter.

Prosecution alleges that Murray administered a lethal dose of the drug Propofol to Jackson, which resulted in the singer's death.

The doctor's defence team claim that Jackson overdosed due to an injection he administered himself while Murray stepped out of the bedroom.

In the interview Murray admitted to giving Jackson "milk" after the singer requested it to help him sleep on the night of his death. He also confessed to providing Jackson with other drugs including Lorazepam and Midazolam in the hours before his death.

He insisted that he was trying to wean Jackson off Propofol, as he believed the singer was addicted to the drug. He used Lorazepam and Midazolam as alternatives to Propofol.

During the interrogation, Murray said that after he provided Jackson with the drugs, he left the room for a few minutes. When he came back around 11am he found that the singer had stopped breathing.

Murray said he immediately began chest compressions while calling Jackson's assistant to notify him that there was an emergency situation.

When paramedics arrived, Murray said that they were prepared to give up on the lifeless Jackson. He then begged them to transfer care to him because the doctor was Jackson's "friend".

When Jackson arrived at UCLA Medical Centre, Murray recalled that emergency room personnel tried to revive the star for about an hour.

After Jackson was pronounced dead, the emergency room doctor asked Murray what had happened. The doctor told her that Jackson may have suffered from a massive pulmonary embolism.

Murray said he didn't want to sign Jackson's death certificate because he didn't understand the cause of the singer's death.

He also recounted breaking the news of Jackson's death to the singer's family. Jackson's mother Katherine Jackson "broke down" in tears after Murray informed her. Jackson's daughter Paris cried out "I don't want to be an orphan" before she began sobbing.

Court will be in recess until Tuesday as Columbus Day bank holiday is being observed in America Monday. (C) Cover Media
