(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jake Gyllenhaal thinks it would be extraordinary if the technology from Source Code existed, particularly in light of the Japan earthquake.
The 30-year-old movie star is currently promoting the thriller, which tells the story of a soldier who awakes in the body of an unknown man and finds out hes part of a mission to track the bomber of a Chicago commuter train.
Jake has already discussed how moved he has been by the devastating earthquake which hit Japan on March 11, and now he has expressed an interest in some kind of technology which could have prevented the natural disaster.
Talking about a movie where we ask, Could you go back into somebody elses body and stop some huge catastrophe from happening? You know, thinking What an absurdity, but at the same time thinking, Gosh wouldnt that be extraordinary if it actually existed?
Because you know, were just in a very critical time... being part of a world community... and its a huge responsibility for every country and every person, Jake told the BBC.
Source Code also stars Michelle Monaghan and Vera Farmiga, and the former has also been greatly affected by the ideas which have emerged from the movie. The thoughtful star is often drawn to intellectually challenging movies, and has found Source Code to be no exception.
Thematically this is about What would you do if you had eight minutes left to live? What would you go back in your life and change? What would you do differently? Who would you pick up the phone and call?
Its really kind of profound and thought provoking and thats one of the reasons it resonated with me, added Michelle. (C) Cover Media
