(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jake Gyllenhaal reportedly bought Taylor Swift a rare signed guitar by one of her country music idols for her 21st birthday.

Hollywood actor Jake has only been dating American singer Taylor for a matter of weeks, but feels strongly enough about the blonde-haired beauty to splash out on an expensive instrument to please her.

The item, a Fender Gretsch, is signed by country music icon Chet Atkins, who died in 2001.

The American guitarist is credited with giving American country music an international appeal and he won many Grammy Awards in this time.

As a guitar player herself, when Taylor spotted the exclusive item in a shop in Nashville during a date with Jake she quickly became over-excited.

"He [Jake] spent the weekend in Nashville with her [Taylor] and she saw the guitar in a tiny store which a lot of A-list musicians use, a source told British newspaper The Sun. "Taylor drooled over it so Jake went back to the shop later and bought it for her.

The singer turned 21 two days ago but the guitar is not the only present that Jake bought for her. While the instrument set him back over $11,000, he is said to have spent over $150,000 flying Taylor to London, UK, on a private jet while he was promoting his recent film Love and Other Drugs.

"He was originally going to buy the guitar just as a gift but it ended up being perfect for her birthday on Monday," the source revealed. (C) Cover Media
