The 72-year-old Hollywood actress announced last month that she had recovered from a breast cancer scare. A small tumour in her breast was detected during a routine check and she immediately sought medical treatment and underwent surgery.

Jane has now opened up about the ordeal in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres which will air today. The star confessed she did feel fear upon receiving the diagnosis, yet shes come out of the ordeal a far stronger person.

"When [medical professionals] say, 'You've got cancer' there's that moment of scary," she told Ellen.

"And then I felt like I've just become a part of a huge family of women - survivors of breast cancer."

Jane understands how fortunate she is to have survived the disease and received such excellent treatment. The talented star is back on good form, and is busy promoting her fitness line.

"I'm really lucky," she beamed.

Jane is set to re-launch her Fonda Workout brand later this month with a series of DVDs and fitness equipment going on sale. The star became associated with health and wellness in the 80s when she released her very first work-out video, Jane Fonda's Workout, and she went on to become a symbol for keep-fit across the globe.
