January Jones: X-Men look took time

31st May 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - January Jones says perfecting her X-Men character's appearance was quite a "process".

The actress plays Emma Frost in the latest instalment of the superhero franchise, X-Men: First Class, which is set in the 60s. January donned a host of sexy outfits for the movie and was thrilled with how she looked, but admits it took some time to achieve the appearance.

"I did [enjoy wearing the X-Men costumes] obviously a big part of the role for me is to recreate the look of what she was," she said in an interview with British television show Lorraine. "There were several forces we needed to please, like the fans and the time period. I needed to be able to move around as well so the collaboration between hair and make-up and costume was a bit of a process. But I loved it. I didn't feel like I was too revealed or too uncomfortable at any time."

January admits she hasn't always been a fan of the superhero series. When she was growing up she preferred reading other comics, but claims she was still considered to be a nerd.

"I was a geek but it wasn't because of comic books! I liked the Archie and Jughead comics but I didn't do a lot of superhero stuff," she laughed. "Yes I did used to think I was a superhero when I was younger but not because I read comics. I thought I was amazing!"

X-Men: First Class, directed by Matthew Vaughn and also starring James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, is released worldwide from next month. (C) Cover Media
