8th February 2017

Sanjay Leela Bhansali was recently attacked and beaten up by Karni Sena in Rajasthan while shooting for his upcoming film 'Padmavati.' The attackers even vandalised the equipments used for shooting on the sets. Even though the entire Bollywood fraternity joined hands together and came out in support of the filmmaker, the issue is still not resolved in a proper manner.

Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan, who is also a Rajya Sabha member, came out in support of Bhansali and raised the matter to the Government. She spoke at the zero-hour recently and expressed her concern over the issue. While grabbing attention towards the issue, she also demanded for a strong action to be taken in this case.

She said, "Sometimes they are threatened, sometimes films are not allowed to be screened, sets are vandalised and sometimes it takes a violent turn as it happened in Jaipur recently. Sets of Padmavati, where Rajput Karni Sena not only physically assaulted Sanjay Leela Bhansali, but also damaged the expensive film equipments"

She further added, "What message are we sending to the film fraternity which is one of the most important and vibrant ambassador of the country. Creativity should not be subjected to such treatment."
