(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jennifer Aniston has reportedly been overcome with memories of John Mayer after listening to a song he wrote.

The Hollywood star dated the musician on-and-off between 2008 and 2009. John reportedly penned an ode to Jennifer for his upcoming album Born and Raised, with the track Shadow Days detailing how hard he found the break-up.

Jennifer was apparently touched by the track and has been overheard telling pals it stirred up a lot of "old memories", according to British magazine Grazia.

It's not known if Jennifer has reached out to John to discuss the song.

The tune includes the lyrics: "You find yourself alone I found myself in pieces/ On my hotel floor/Hard times help me see/I'm a good man with a good heart/Had a tough time, got a rough start/And I finally learned to let it go."

It was apparently his way of letting Jennifer know he has no hard feelings about their separation.

"He wrote the song as a farewell letter knowing [Jen] would hear it," an insider previously said. "Ultimately he's done a lot of self-reflection though and it he realises they weren't right for each other." (C) Cover Media
