The star shot to fame in 2004 after appearing on television show American Idol, where she came seventh. Even though she didnt win the contest Jennifer used it as a springboard for her career, and is currently promoting her second album I Remember Me.

She has also dipped her toe in the acting pond, winning an Oscar for her appearance in 2006s Dreamgirls. Jennifer still cant believe where life has taken her and never expected to be so successful.

Ive always been a dreamer, but no, I did not dream this big. I didnt see the acting or the Oscar coming. I just wanted to do what I loved, and thats singing. Even after American Idol I knew I was going to do something, I just had to sing my way to it, she explained to Look.

The star is engaged to David Otunga and they have 20-month-old son David together. Being a mother has completely changed the 29-year-old and she loves every minute of caring for her child.
