(Cover) - EN Music - Jessie J was "cool" about exploring her bisexuality in her teens.

The 23-year-old singer is openly bisexual. Jessie discovered that she was attracted to women in her teens. She has not tried to conceal her feelings for ladies since.

"Because I haven't tried to hide [my sexuality] people have gone, 'Oh she's so cool about it, so we're cool about it,'" said Jessie.

She was more than willing to explore her innate desires as a youth. She had her first lesbian experience in her late teens.

"How old was I when I had my first girlfriend? Dunno. 17?" she said. "It wasn't a girlfriend, more my first girl experience."

Honesty about her sexuality is extremely important to Jessie. She believes that being open allows for acceptance from the people most important to her.

"It is important for me to be open and honest about [my sexuality]. My mum and dad have known for years and were super cool, my sisters made jokes about it because they were married with kids and I was the rebellious one. I had a girlfriend and tattoos. I was like, hardcore."

Jessie may be "hardcore", but she does not partake in illicit activities. Drugs and alcohol use are not at all recreational for the singer.

"Drugs and alcohol are not the epitome of an amazing life, they're actually glamorised way too much," said Jessie to Glamour. "People go to me, 'Oh my God, you're in the industry and you don't take drugs?' It's weird to me that it's seen as un-normal. It's quite sad."

Jessie will resume performances later this year after her broken foot has healed. (C) Cover Media
