(Cover) - EN Star Style - Joan Collins wants to create a fashion line for women over 50 because she thinks many people wear clothes which are too young for them.
The glamorous star is 77, but still follows fashion trends. She doesnt think its hard to find clothes which are age appropriate, but judging by what she sees other women wearing on a regular basis she thinks many do struggle. For that reason the star is contemplating starting her own label, which would target older ladies.
I would love to do a collection now for women over 50, she said. There is so very little out there. You end up looking either like a frump or mutton dressed as lamb. Its definitely not going to be Oh, look at me, isnt this outrageous [clothing]. I was at [the Carousel of Hope charity ball in October] and Im not mentioning any names but some of the women there should not be wearing sleeveless, backless, cleavaged they just looked ridiculous.
The star would love to work with Donna Karan, Diane von Furstenberg or Michael Kors, but doesnt expect that to ever happen. She thinks such designers are probably far too busy running their own fashion empires to want to collaborate.
Joan added she would only start a line if she could make clothes first, not accessories. She thinks too many people bring out ranges of bags and sunglasses before focusing on full outfits, making it boring. The star has put a lot of thought into how she would go about creating a collection, as its been a dream of hers for so long.
It was when I was very young, like 11, 12 or 13, she told WWD. I would draw, read the magazines and design things for my aunts and my mother. Occasionally they would have them made by the dressmaker. (C) Cover Media
