The 47-year-old has two children, Lily-Rose, 11, and eight-year-old Jack with French singer-and-actress Vanessa Paradis. The star admits he refuses to watch any of his films but encourages his children to, so he can get an assessment of his performance.

I sent them to see a screening of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when that came out. I didnt go as Im better off not seeing my films, but my kids saw it and when they came back I was so nervous, like did you like it? Was I OK? My daughter looked at me and went, Youre really weird, she gave me the Wonka line so I thought I must have hit it, he told Extra.

Johnny will take his children to watch his latest big screen outing, animated film Rango. He plays the lead character, a chameleon who struggles to fit in with his surroundings. The versatile actor confirms its rare that he gets a chance to go to the cinema with his children to watch a family themed movie.

They are going to see it this weekend, they are going to see it with me. Its wonderful, its amazing because there are certain films that my kids cannot see till theyre 25, 30. Like theyre not going out tomorrow to see The Libertine or some of those things, he joked.

Johnny cherishes these family outings as he is fully aware they wont last for much longer. He believes the dreaded adolescent years are fast approaching, and his daughter will soon have other things on her mind.
