(Cover) - EN Movies - Jon Favreau was initially daunted about directing Cowboys and Aliens after realising the release date would coincide with this summer's big blockbusters.
The American director helmed the upcoming science fiction Western film starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde. The movie is based on the 2006 graphic novel of the same name.
Jon admits he was hesitant about taking on the project since there were so many Hollywood superhero films in production at the same time.
The filmmaker says his anxiety was eased after putting out a teaser trailer which showed the level of talent behind the film.
"When I signed on to do this, we were entering into the summer with all the superhero movies and all the big sequels," he explained. "So by showing the first teaser trailer where you see Harrison Ford, you see Daniel Craig, and they start to flash some of the people behind the camera myself, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard it starts to intrigue people."
Jon was interested from the onset by the relationship between the cowboys and intergalactic species. The 44-year-old star was thrilled to be dealing with such a complex story.
"I just liked the idea from the comic that the aliens were to the cowboys what the cowboys were to the indigenous population. I think there's an interesting aspect to that irony," he told SciFi Now. "Whenever that greater technology encounters the lesser technology, it seems like manifest destiny is on the side of the higher-species or race." (C) Cover Media
