(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Two men have been arrested in the UK over an alleged murder plot involving Joss Stone.
The suspects, aged 30 and 33, were taken into custody yesterday at 10am, police have confirmed. Detectives found them near the 24-year-old singer's home in a Devon village, and their car was found to contain an arsenal of weapons as well as rope, a sword and a body bag.
They also had aerial pictures and maps of Joss' property, and were originally arrested as it was thought they were planning to rob her.
"The pair were brought in on Tuesday morning and are in the cells," a source connected to the investigation told British newspaper The Telegraph.
"They are being quizzed about a plot to cause Joss Stone really serious harm. They have their solicitors with them but the police want to know what lies behind this."
Police have confirmed: "As a result of enquiries the two males are now being detained for the further offences of conspiracy to rob and conspiracy to murder. Major crime detectives are continuing to investigate."
The men are being held in Exeter and are still in custody, which around 20 officers are understood to be working on the investigation.
The accused pair had travelled to Devon from Manchester, and were asked to stop by police as they drove around roads in Joss' village. Officers were acting on information from Joss' neighbours, who reported the men were acting suspiciously. Initially, they were accused of having offensive weapons and planning to steal.
Joss' wealth was recently estimated at 9 million by newspaper The Sunday Times, and one theory being considered is that the men were jealous of her success.
"The police want to know if this alleged conspiracy is about her money and fame or just some kind of resentment over her success," the source added.
"But this will make her feel very vulnerable living on the outskirts of a quiet and isolated village in Devon when she isn't touring around the world. She is due to go on tour next month with gigs in Europe."
It remains unknown whether Joss was at home at the time, while her representatives haven't commented. (C) Cover Media
