Julia Roberts employs "parental editing" when she thinks a story is too scary for her children.
The star has three kids with her husband Daniel Moder. She is currently promoting her new movie Mirror Mirror, which is a Snow White adaptation. Julie plays the evil queen and seven-year-old twins Hazel and Finn and four-year-old Henry were too little to see some of the work Julia did on the film, although she is hoping they will like the movie when they are older.
The star does her best to shield her kids from certain things, although occasionally something slips through the net.
"Look at Rapunzel. That story is so savage. The prince falls out of the tower, and his eyes get gouged out. I read that story to my kids one night and well, very quickly it becomes The End and, 'That was a short one!' We call it parental editing," she laughed.
Julia was thrilled to win the part of the queen, even though she is very different from her in real life. The Hollywood icon had no problem portraying a nasty character, insisting the process is the same no matter what movie she is working on.
"To me, everything has its challenges being funny, being nice, being mean. It's all the same on the day. You are trying to do it the best that you can because it's going to last forever," she told British newspaper The Independent.
