The reigning diva of bollywood, Kangana Ranaut is keeping the audience engaged by showing them a variety of her. After 'Katti Batti', Kangana will soon be seen in the skin of celebrated brave woman, Rani Lakshmi Bai popularly known as Jhansi Ki Rani.

Ketan Mehta will be directing the upcoming film based on Rani Lakshmi Bai and has roped in Kangana to play Lakshmi Bai.

The actress has read about Lakshmi Bai in school and when she was approached with the role, she was very excited. She also loved the script and was impressed with the kind of research.

It is an Indo-British production and will be made on a grand scale. Ketan Mehta confirmed, "Yes, Kangana is on board. I always wanted to make The Rising as a trilogy. So, this film will be the second part after Mangal Pandey (2005). I am very excited."
