The pregnant American actress has purchased the impressive property ahead of her giving birth to the couple's first child this summer.

The 1953 English-style retreat is in the Pacific Palisades area of California and boasts an area of 7,000 sq ft.

According to RadarOnline, the gated house has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, and also boasts an array of luxury features including a library with vaulted ceilings, a large kitchen with a butler's pantry, a sauna and a gym.

The new house is also close to Kate's mother, Goldie Hawn, which will be perfect for the star's growing brood.

Kate already has a seven-year-old son, Ryder, from her previous marriage to Chris Robinson.

Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have moved into a "fortress" in Malta.

The Hollywood golden couple and their six children have relocated to the European island. Brad is currently shooting science fiction film World War Z there, and wanted his family by his side during filming.

The pad has been described as an "18th century, square-shaped fortress" which was originally built to protect the occupants from pirates. (C) Cover Media
