Kate Moss inspired by beach bags

7th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Kate Moss has taken care to protect women from the pitfalls of scratchy bags in her latest collection for Longchamp.

The British supermodel has been working on her third line for the French leather goods company for Spring/Summer 11 and has contributed very closely to the designs.

Among Kates inspiration for her new collection was a trip to the beach for while decent and practical, but effective and glamorous beach bag is needed.

"She wanted this to look like a proper straw beach bag - but the traditional straw snags tights or fine fabrics of sarongs and scratches bare legs," Longchamps creative director Sophie de la Fontaine told Vogue.com. "So we embossed this fine leather so that it looks like straw from afar - but it won't do that damage, and of course it will last forever.

Sophie explained how intently Kate thinks about the owners needs when giving design input, and said a womans pleasure is central to her concerns when brain-storming ideas.

People dont realise how much the mother-of-one gets involved during the collaboration which is a shame, Sophie said.

Kate is a woman and wants women to enjoy the bags as she would," she gushed. I don't think people imagine how involved Kate is or how much thought she gives the details. She's involved in every decision."

Kates latest line using bright pink, blues and whites was inspired by a trip to Peru where she stayed at Mario Testinos house.

Sleek canvas and leather every day shoulder bags also feature heavily in the range. (C) Cover Media
