Katy Perry breaks record with five hit singles

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Katy Perry has broken a musical record with her album Teenage Dream.

The pop star, who has enjoyed global success with her catchy, uplifting songs, has had five number one singles from the hugely popular record.

The singer is the first female ever to have produced so many chart toppers on one album, with only Michael Jackson achieving the same amount of number one hits on his 1987 release Bad.

Katy's current single Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) won her the record this week after climbing two spaces from the number three spot.

The other four songs that helped the 26-year-old nail the record are Teenage Dream, California Gurls featuring Snoop Dogg, Kanye West collaboration E.T. and Firework.

This makes Teenage Dream the first album in the 19-year history of Billboard's Pop Songs chart to generate five number one songs.

And thanks to her latest hit, Katy joined musical legend Michael Jackson as the second ever album in the Hot 100's 53-year timeline to produce five number one singles.

A sixth song from the Teenage Dream record, Peacock, has already charted in the Number One spot on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart, but it is not certain whether it will be released as a standalone track. (C) Cover Media
