Katy Perry loves travelling with her friends because they "don't give a c**p about the hubbub" that surrounds her celebrity status.
The songstress is busy promoting the re-release of Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, which has recently spawned the number one single Part of Me.
Katy is glad to have her group of friends with her as she travels across the globe, and is grateful for their continued support.
"I bring my friends with me everywhere. That's my favourite luxury to have. They are so solid and centred and don't give a c**p about the hubbub that goes on," she told BBC Radio 1 on Monday morning.
"I don't have fast friends. I don't have a lot of those. I'm guarded for all the right reasons. People want to be your mate, your chum, but they have to earn it with me."
Katy is currently in the UK to promote her newest record.
The blue-haired beauty appreciates the fans and press in the country, but has joked about their intentions at times.
"I love the people of England, they're so lovely, they care, they mean well. Maybe they talk c**p behind your back, but they're so sweet to your face," she laughed.
Katy knows too well how being in the spotlight operates.
The 27-year-old star doesn't mind being photographed when she's working, but admits to shunning the limelight when she's not promoting her latest project.
"When I'm not working, they can F-off. I know how to separate it completely. That's why you don't see me everywhere just when I'm working," she explained.
"I do my best to avoid if I want to be avoided, but I'm working at the moment. It's what I have to do, it's the environment I'm in."
