(Cover) - EN Fashion - Katy Perry says she loves the over-the-top outfits Lady Gaga wore at the MTV Video Music Awards.

As a style icon herself, Katy loves the way Lady Gaga experiments with fashion and tries to make profound statements with her outfits.

Katy found the symbolism of Lady Gagas now infamous meat dress interesting, and thought her Alexander McQueen dress was especially beautiful.

I think her outfits are very Lady Gaga. It's like so over-the-top," she told MTV News.

"I thought the Alexander McQueen outfit was stunning. I was like, 'Oh my god!' I love all that kind of symbolism that she had on her dress, and she made a statement with all the people next to her. I like the statement she made."

Katy thinks the much talked about Franc Fernandez meat dress surpassed fashion and became a fascinating talking point. The pop star believes the dress had such a strong impact because Lady Gaga chooses clothes to represent an extension of her personality, and Katy says she tries to do the same thing herself.

"I think costumes are just a natural extension. I don't think you can just have the costumes and not have anything else. The costumes are the bells and whistles and bells and whistles can be really fun, but you have to have the spine, and I think that with Gaga, she's got the spine and she's got the costume, she explained.

"With me, I have the spine and I have the costumes, so we can coexist," added Katy. (C) Cover Media
