The American singer married British comedian Russell Brand in a much-hyped wedding in northern India over the weekend, surrounded by a small selection of family and friends.

The brunette beauty, who celebrates her 26th birthday today, wore a dove grey haute couture dress with lace sleeves created by a Lebanese fashion designer.

When Katy Perry said I do to Russell Brand Saturday in northern India, she wore an Elie Saab haute couture dress, Us Magazine reported.

Elie Saab is a self-trained creative who has workshops in Lebanon, Milan and Paris.

He rose to fame when he styled Halle Berry in a burgundy gown for the 2002 Academy Awards, where she was named Best Actress. Now his designs are worn by the celebrity elite all over the world and have been championed by singer Beyonc Knowles and actress-and-model Elizabeth Hurley.

Katy Perry was originally thought to have planned to wear a number of outfits on her special day.

The happy couple are said to be overjoyed at finally tying the knot after months of preparation and media speculation.

They released a statement to the world not long after their vows to announce that they were legally committed to one another.

Hours after the wedding, a rep for Perry told Us the singer and her husband are overjoyed to confirm that they were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Brand, the magazine said. (C) Cover Media
