Kelly Rowland proud of decisive attitude

9th December 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kelly Rowland says she is no longer afraid to make her own decisions.

The singer shot to fame in girl band Destinys Child and is now pursuing a solo career. The star admits she was too easily influenced by other people in the past but has learned to stand up for what she believes. Kelly has carved out a name for herself by releasing a string of popular dance tunes and is thrilled she trusted her instincts and recorded material she felt a connection with.

Im not afraid to make decisions now, she explained to Marie Claire magazine. I used to worry, and I gave everybody else the credit.

Kelly, 29, accepts many people associated her with R&B music due to her involvement with Destinys Child, but she was keen to break down barriers and experiment with different sounds. She has collaborated with DJ David Guetta on Commander and When Love Takes Over, and has also tried to persuade her famous friends to reinvent their sound.

No one like me was doing dance music then. Producers only knew me in an R&B capacity, Kelly added. I played Usher a song and he said, That record is crazy, but I was like, You should try dance.

The singer also spoke about her Destinys Child bandmates Beyonc Knowles and Michelle Williams, revealing she still has a close friendship with them. People would love to see us hate each other, but theyre my sisters, she insisted. (C) Cover Media
