I thought it was interesting but when I described it to friends they were confused. Youre doing a film about what? A king who stammers? Maybe I didnt explain it well, he mused to Cover Media.
Its a scenario were not used to.
That said, it didnt take long for Neil to realise the movies potential. He described the cast as being a directors dream, and thinks Tom is immensely talented.
It felt very different. I only started to think about how successful it could be towards the end when I saw the rough cut and it was an incredibly moving work. I thought, I wouldnt be surprised if some people won awards, he added.
The films location manager Jamie Lengyel had a similar reaction. Jamie understood that the personal struggle of King George VI documented in the historical drama would move cinemagoers.
It struck a chord. I thought, This is personal its more than just a story about a king, he explained.
