(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kirsten Dunst has opened up about her battle with depression.

The 29-year-old actress spoke to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres about the dark periods in her life.

Ellen broached the subject in a gentle way as it is something that Kirsten doesn't talk about often.

"There is now way to bring it up without saying what it is you suffered from depression," Ellen stated.

"It's not something I feel like totally comfortable talking about but yeah, it's a very personal thing," the Spiderman star admitted.

She said that she battled with the pressure of Hollywood and some struggled with living up the expectations placed upon her.

"That and it's also interesting as an actress you're supposed to be sensitive and vulnerable and have this side to you," she shared.

"But then you're supposed to be super sociable and on' and like nice to everybody. That's a weird dichotomy. It's a lot to ask of a person. It's not a normal thing."

Kirsten checked into the Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Utah back in 2008 to be treated for depression.

She is busy promoting her new movie Melancholia which has been receiving great reviews. (C) Cover Media
