(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lady Gaga won five prizes at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) last night.
The outrageous pop star triumphed in all the categories she was nominated in, going home with several of the evenings top accolades. Gagas successful night started on the white carpet, where she was presented with trophies for Best Dance Video for her song Bad Romance, and Best Collaboration Video for her work with Beyonc Knowles on Telephone.
Gaga wore a dress from Alexander McQueens final collection when she arrived at the show, but later changed into another outfit to accept the prize for Best Female Video. She broke into sobs during her acceptance speech, thanking her fans, who she calls little monsters.
"Tonight little monsters, we're the cool kids at the party," Gaga said.
The star then had another costume change, squeezing into a dress made out of raw meat to accept the awards for Best Pop Video and Video of the Year. She looked thrilled to receive the coveted prizes, and used her time onstage to announce the name of her name album is Born This Way.
Other big winners were Eminem, who won Best Male Video and Best Hip-Hop video for his song Not Afraid, Jared Letos band 30 Seconds to Mars, which received the Best Rock Video prize, and teen pop star Justin Bieber, who was named Best New Artist.
Eminem and Rihanna opened the event, singing their hit Love the Way You Lie, while Kanye West, Lincoln Park, Mary J. Blige and Taylor Swift also performed. Justin Bieber sung a free show outside the event, to the delight of his screaming fans.
The MTV Video Music Awards were held at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre.
