December 27, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Lady T, who has been a popular figure on the Las Vegas Strip until very recently, has passed away while sleeping according to reports. Aged 54, Teena Marie, known as Lady T, was not suffering from any chronic ailment, and her death comes as a shock to the music world.

Teena has been a big R&B figure in her twenties when she first appeared on the music scene with her songs like 'Love girl' (1984). This year, she had been on the focus again due to the success of her 2009 release 'Congo Square'.

The singer was full of life, if we consider what she mentioned before passing away on micro-blogging website Twitter. On December 25, a day before she died, she had quoted another great artiste which said that she dint wish to die ever.

Two of her thirteen albums had gained the platinum pedestal during her illustrious career. She had once injured herself by a major fall in midst of a concert and had been hospitalized once for a six month span in 1988. Apart from that, she fell ill seriously last month under a mal-seizure.

Teenas daughter Alia Rose is also a singer.
