Lauren Bush: Barbara taught me about style

21st April 2011

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Lauren Bush thanks grandmother Barbara Bush for helping develop her impeccable sense of style.

The 26-year-old model-and-designer is granddaughter of former US President George H. W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara.

The 85-year-old was known for looking stylish in brightly coloured suits and elegant Kenneth Jay Lane jewellery during her time as First Lady from 1989 to 1993, and Lauren says her grandmother hasnt lost her strong sense for fashion.

"She has always paid attention to fashion," Lauren told Harpers Bazaar.

"She is a very assertive grandma; she'll let you know if she likes what you're wearing or not."

Stunning Lauren, who has graced the cover of Vogue and posed for high-end brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, also recalled her early days as a model. Her mother Sharon Bush was keen to make sure the career didnt get in the way of her daughters education, although Lauren laughed that this sometimes meant jobs went wrong.

"My first big job was an Abercrombie & Fitch campaign," she smiled. "But my mom wouldn't let me skip school for it, so I missed half of the shoot. When we got there, we realised Bruce Weber was the photographer; we knew we had made a mistake!" (C) Cover Media
