Liza Minnelli: I still shake my hips

28th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Liza Minnelli can still "shake her hips" after having them replaced it just takes a little longer.

The 65-year-old has false hips and knees and recorded her latest record, Confessions, while recovering from her latest knee surgery in bed. Many expect Liza to be less mobile since the surgeries, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Last year the singer gave a storming rendition of Beyonc Knowles' Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) in movie Sex and the City 2. She even performed some of the R&B star's signature dance moves, which she loved.

"I like Michael Bubl, Lady Gaga and Pink. I love Beyonc, that's music to dance to," she told UK TV show Loose Women. "I'd had my hips done for Sex and the City. I can still shake them, it just takes a little more work. It was fun, I'm friends with all the girls in real life. When they called me I thought, What a hoot!' The choreographer did a beautiful job."

Liza is the daughter of film director Vincente Minnelli and Judy Garland, but despite being Hollywood royalty she hates splashing the cash. The four-times married star insists she isn't as rich as many think, so never squanders her earnings.

"No I am a tightwad, I'm the worst. And I'm always broke anyway. I've had two business managers who handle my money who are in jail. I chose my business managers with the same luck I chose my husbands," she deadpanned.

Liza remained tight-lipped about whether she is dating at the moment, only saying she's very happy with the way things are in her life. She knows she's made bad choices with men in the past and thinks part of her problem is that she suppressed parts of her personality.

"[Would you adapt your personality to suit a man?] That was my problem! I'd be there and I'd say, Oh isn't that cute, he left his socks in the middle of the room.' Which is fine and then six months later when you're more yourself I'd say, Pick up your damn socks!' Yes I'm a people pleaser, the worst. But I've got better," she said. (C) Cover Media
