On Monday, Janhvi Kapoor revealed on the social media that Madhuri Dixit has stepped into her mother's shoes. Thanking Madhuri, Janhvi tweeted, "Abhishek Varman's next film was very close to mom's heart. Dad (Boney Kapoor), Khushi (her sister) and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film."
It is Abhishek Varman's directed yet to be titled film under Karan Johar's Dharma Productions a period love story set against Partition, will go on the floors in April. KJo earlier announced in his reality show 'India's Next Superstars' that he will be marking his first film with Sridevi in April. However, the actress sudden demise took the whole industry in shock and Kjo's dream of working with the legendary actress remained incomplete.
Following Janhvi's thanking tweet to Madhuri, Karan tweeted later in the evening, saying, "Some clarifications!!! Yes...we are honoured and humbled to have @MadhuriDixit on board for @abhivarman ‘s next! NO the film is NOT titled SHIDHAT! Yes the film will Commence shoot in mid April! The films final cast and credits will be announced soon!"
A source close to the making suggested that the film is scheduled to go on floors in mid-April. The source said, "The first schedule will be in Mumbai for around a month after which the team moves to Madhya Pradesh. It is essentially a love story with the Partition as the backdrop."
The yet to be titled film also stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Buzz is, Sanjay Dutt was supposed to be paired with Sridevi.
