Madhuri irks Maharashtra ministers

10th May 2012

Lately, Bollywood's dancing diva Madhuri Dixit has been in news for all the wrong reasons. The actress drew negative criticism from a section of politicians for turning down the offer of promoting Maharashtra tourism merely for not being paid the amount she desired.

Nitesh Rane, son of Industries Minister Narayan Rane had criticized Madhuri on his microblogging page stating, 'Madhuri charging high for being the brand ambassador of Maharashtra is such a disgrace! When it comes to your own soil... one should be selfless! Shame!' . And now it is Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar who indirectly targeted Madhuri for her absence at a recent state government awards function.

Just a few days back Madhuri attended the Dinanath Mangeshkar Award ceremony where she was awarded with the honor. However, she recently flew to US for a family occasion and gave the state awards a miss, an act which irked the minister. "This is a state honor, a token of the love of 11 crore citizens. Some stars (read Madhuri) were free to receive other awards two days ago, but are tied for time to receive a government honor," said Ajit Pawar.

Hmmmm...We wonder what 'Mumbaichi Mulgi' Madhuri's reaction to this criticism would be.
