Hansal Mehta's next will have actor Manoj Bajpayee playing a homosexual professor.

The award winning filmmaker's next is inspired by an Aligarh Muslim University incident. It's a story about a professor, who gets caught while having consensual sex with a rickshaw driver, in the college campus.

While Manoj has been finalized for the professor's role; the director is yet to cast an actor for the rickshaw driver's character.

Discussing the topic of the film he says, "Why do we marginalise people in our society on counts like religion, sexual preferences and the likes? This film is about the draconian article 377 of IPC. How does it matter to anybody what two consenting adults do in their bedroom? I have several gay friends whose housing societies mirror the state that has become the moral police."

Manoj has already started preparing for the film and learning the nuances for his role.Rajkummar Rao will play a young journalist from Kerala in the film.
