Mario Testino: Anorexia isnt the worlds biggest problem

(Cover) - EN Fashion - Mario Testino thinks the world has greater problems than anorexia.

The Peru-born photographer has shot some of the worlds most beautiful women, including Claudia Schiffer, Gisele Bndchen, Kate Moss and Madonna.

He enjoys his profession and always ignores claims by fashion industry critics that models are too young or too thin because he thinks society has more pressing issues to worry about.

I think the world has greater problems than anorexia, he said in an interview with WWD.

Mario has never had a problem photographing young fashion models, and the 55-year-old insists he was just as slender as some of the 16-year-old models regularly sashaying down the runways when he was a teenager.

Fashion uses young models, it always has, and of course theyre skinny. I was skinny too at their age, argued Mario.

Mario is currently showcasing his work at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid, Spain, and the exhibition features some of his most famous celebrity pictures.

When asked which of his famous portraits he is most proud of, Mario said he is particularly fond of one showing actress Demi Moore in just a pair of high-heels. Its difficult, my world is one of extremes but I would keep a nude, maybe the one of Demi Moore, he explained. (C) Cover Media
