(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Mark Wahlberg cant imagine not doing a sequel to The Fighter.

The 39-year-old actor starred in the movie alongside Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Melissa Leo. He played the role of Micky Ward a frustrated boxer who trains with his older half-brother before going pro in the mid 1980s.

The films director, David O. Russell, has worked with Mark on Three Kings and I Heart Huckabees before collaborating for the movie, which landed seven Academy Award nominations.

Mark says everybody involved with the film is excited at the prospect of filming a sequel.

Everybody had such an amazing experience making the movie that I cant imagine they wouldnt want to go back. But its still kind in the early stages, he told Entertainment Weekly.

The film won Oscars for Best Supporting Actor (Christian Bale) and Best Supporting Actress (Melissa Leo). Mark - who underwent a strict bodybuilding exercise regimen, dedicating over four years of training to obtain the muscular physique to convincingly play Micky says both director David and Micky are pushing the actor to get the ball rolling for a second movie.

Theyre both thrilled by the possibility. I just keep getting the phone calls. From Micky, yeah. Saying, Make sure you get it done, he said.

Mark revealed that after such a strict training regime for the movie, he is enjoying his time off. The actor laughed people noticed the change in his body as he stuffed his face.

Well, I certainly took some time off and enjoyed the fruits of my labour and stuffed my face, drank a lot of wine, and then had a lot of people say, Dude, you dont look the same. [When I first] showed up on the set of this movie, they were like, Dude, you cant show up to work looking like that. Theyre expecting you to be in shape like you were for The Fighter, he said.
