(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Matthew McConaughey is immersed in the process of "losing some weight."

The muscular Magic Mike star has to shed 30lbs for his upcoming role in The Dallas Buyer's Club. Matthew will portray a man named Ron Woodruff who contracted HIV in the 1980s through drug use.

The actor is easing into weight loss, as he wants to maintain his health throughout.

"I'm losing some weight," he said in an interview on webseries Larry King Now.

"I've got a role coming up in the middle of September. I've lost about 15 pounds, I've gotta lose about 15 more. I should not look healthy by the time I'm doing this."

Matthew chooses to view this time period as somewhat of a purging process.

"It's a bit of a spiritual cleanse, mental cleanse," he explained. "[I'm] drinking a lot of tea. It takes a while for your body to understand that it has to feed off of itself and that you're not going to give it something else from the outside."

The Dallas Buyer's Club is slated for release in 2013. (C) Cover Media
