(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Mel B is happy to be free from "rocky" romantic relationships.

The star gave birth to daughter Madison Brown Belafonte on September 1. This is Mel and her husband Stephen Belafonte's first child together, although the 36-year-old singer has two other daughters from previous relationships. Mel had Phoenix Chi, 12, with ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar and Angel, four, with actor Eddie Murphy.

Mel has now discussed how difficult some of her previous romances were.

"I had a rocky marriage with Phoenix's dad [Jimmy]," Mel told Hello! magazine. "The relationship with Angel's dad, Eddie, was over halfway through the pregnancy, and I had to suck it up and get on with it."

Mel did not feel very supported in her relationships with Jimmy and Eddie. Sharing tender encouragement was a rare occurrence with these beaus.

"Ideally you want to have your loving partner who you've created this baby with by your side throughout everything, and in Angel and Phoenix's cases, that wasn't the set up," Mel explained.

Mel's relationship with husband Stephen is completely different. Wed in June 2007, they have a warm and stable relationship together.

"This time I've done it with my partner - someone to come to every prenatal appointment with me, to get excited by every scan - and it feels like I've finally done it right," Mel said.
