(Cover) - EN Showbiz - The trial into the death of Michael Jackson has begun in Los Angeles today.
Dr. Conrad Murray has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and Prosecutor David Walgren has made his opening statement.
He used a graphic of what looked like Michael's body on a hospital gurney before stating that the singer trusted his life to the medical skills of Dr. Murray which was a "misplaced trust".
Michael died on June 25 2009 from acute Propofol intoxication after the anesthetic drug was administered by Dr. Murray, the prosecution claimed.
They maintain that Dr. Murray repeatedly acted with gross negligence and incompetence.
He apparently was set to receive $150,000 a month for the duration of Michael's This Is It tour and not the $5 million that the doctor had demanded.
David added that Conrad made arrangements with a pharmacy to buy a large quantity of Propofol on a regular basis saying that he had a clinic in Santa Monica when he did not.
Michael was apparently cold, shivering and rambling in the weeks before he died but Conrad allegedly continued to give him Propofol.
On May 20 2009, during a meeting at Michael's home, Conrad apparently scolded tour producer Kenny Ortega for expressing concern over the singer's health saying that Michael was physically and emotionally fine.
Dr. Murray had apparently spent every night at Michael's home for two and a half months so he could put the Thriller star to sleep with Propofol.
The trial continues. (C) Cover Media
