(Cover) - EN Showbiz - The trial into the death of Michael Jackson has resumed in Los Angeles for its second week.
The fifth day of testimony into the involuntary manslaughter case of the singer's former physician Dr Conrad Murray has begun with testimony from an emergency room physician.
Dr. Richelle Cooper told jurors today that Murray did not mention that he had given the singer the anesthetic drug.
She recounted that Murray told her that he had only given the singer the sedative lorazepam but contended that the information probably would not have saved Jackson as he was "clinically dead" when he arrived at the hospital.
Jackson died of acute Propofol intoxication and his personal physician has been charged with his involuntary manslaughter. Murray has denied the allegations.
Two employees from a cell phone company also outlined calls to and from Murray's phone on the day that Jackson died in testimony today.
Prosecutors are expected to call three of Murray's ex-girlfriends to the stand including one who he was on the phone to on the day Jackson died.
Cocktail waitress Sade Anding testified back in January that she was on the line with Murray when he stopped responding to her just before noon.
"I didn't hear him on the phone anymore," Anding said. "I heard commotion as if the phone was in a pocket and I heard coughing and I heard a mumbling of voices."
Bridgett Morgan, who met Murray at a club in 2003, said in earlier testimony that she spoke to the doctor 30 minutes before he apparently found out there was an issue with his patient. She is also expected to take the stand.
The mother of Murray's youngest son, Nicole Alvarez, may also appear as the Propofol Murray apparently used on Jackson was shipped to her Santa Monica apartment.
"Dr. Murray and I were on a need-to-know basis, and I just know my place and my position in his life," Alvarez said.
Jackson's mother Katherine will not be in court today as she took the late singer's three children to Sunday's premiere of Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour in Montreal.
She will also be travelling to Cardiff, Wales with Prince, Paris and Blanket, for a tribute concert to her son to be held on October 10. (C) Cover Media
