Michael Jackson's parents: Justice has been served

8th November 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Michael Jackson's parents have spoken of their joy at Dr. Conrad Murray being found guilty over the death of their son.

Katherine and Joe Jackson said that although the verdict will not bring the entertainer back, they are happy that his former physician has been held accountable for his actions.

Murray was found culpable yesterday of involuntary manslaughter and was remanded in custody pending his sentencing on November 29.

In a statement to TMZ, the Jacksons shared their happiness at the jury's decision.

"We have been waiting for this moment for a very long time, and we couldn't hold back tears of joy in the courtroom," Katherine and Joe told the site.

"Even though nothing can bring back our son, justice has finally been served!"

They added that they couldn't "wait to go home and share this day with Michael's children".

Prince Michael, 14, Paris, 13, and Blanket, nine, are being raised by their grandmother and were not in court for the verdict.

Michael's sister La Toya also tweeted how she was feeling.

"Michael, I love you and I will continue to fight until ALL are brought to justice," she wrote. "Thank you everyone for your love and support!"

Meanwhile, Murray's defence attorney J. Michael Flanagan said that he was "very disappointed" by the decision and that there were already plans to appeal.

Murray was found to be criminally negligent for administering the fatal dose of powerful anaesthetic Propofol to the Thriller star at his home to treat his insomnia.

The 58-year-old faces up to four years in prison and his fate will be decided by Judge Michael Pastor. (C) Cover Media
