(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Michelle Williams thinks Hollywood is a "dangerous" place.

The actress first moved to Los Angeles when she was just 16. She then spent two years auditioning for parts before she finally landed a role as Jen Lindley in the hit TV show Dawson's Creek.

The Blue Valentine star believes Hollywood is a difficult place for teenagers.

"I found it a place with no boundaries," she said to British newspaper The Sun. "There were no limits, no rules and it was dangerous. I compare it to a bowling alley, with lanes and partitions. You have to work out the stuff you will do - and stuff you won't.

I veered crazily across the lanes but never ended up in the gutter."

The star admits that she was offered drugs as a teenager. Michelle is relieved that she managed to escape the experience unscathed.

"It was much seedier and more obscure than simply being introduced to sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll," she explained. "I do not even know if I tried drugs. What was really threatening was that I was out there and vulnerable. If you throw a frog in boiling water, it will die instantly. But if you put it in water and turn the heat up slowly, it will die without knowing. That is how life in Hollywood can be, if you are not experienced."

Now at the age of 31 Michelle is more comfortable in herself. She no longer feels threatened by the pressures of Los Angeles.

"I feel something has changed for me, but it's a new change," she smiled. "Perhaps it has something to do with turning 30. I don't feel as nervous or self-conscious. I have more confidence which means that I can handle what life brings me." (C) Cover Media
