19th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Mika has revealed that his sister has undergone extensive surgery following her 50 ft fall last week.

Paloma Penniman, 28, was impaled on railings after she lost her balance while sitting on a window ledge in her home in London. She suffered serious injuries to her legs and abdomen and was rushed to intensive care.

Pop star Mika real name Michael Penniman has now taken to his blog to reassure fans and state that although his sister is not yet out of danger, the future looks more promising.

She has undergone extensive surgery to her legs and surgery to her abdomen, Mika wrote. Although she is in a lot of pain, things are looking remarkably good considering what happened. Over the coming weeks Paloma will undergo more surgery and start her rehabilitation programme. Her recovery will be a long and difficult one but at this point in time there is no reason to believe that it wont be a successful one.

Mika went on to thank his fans for the support they have shown over the past week. He also praised the emergency services whose fast thinking helped Paloma. Firemen are believed to have cut through the railings at the scene of the accident before paramedics rushed Paloma to hospital.

On behalf of my whole family, we would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and kindness over the past week. Paloma is in a stable condition at the Royal London Hospital.

Paloma and the whole family feel extremely lucky and we are eternally grateful to the Helicopter Response Unit, Doctors and Nurses of the Royal London for saving her life.

Every card, text message and bunch of flowers has been shown to Paloma. We are extremely grateful to you all for keeping Paloma in your thoughts and prayers, he continued. (C) Cover Media
