Miley Cyrus has spoken out for the first time about the engagement reports swirling around her over the past few days.

The 19-year-old singer took to her Twitter page to finally dispel rumours she is tying the knot with boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

Miley posted a picture of her hand to show off her manicure last week which inadvertently then led to speculation she was heading up the aisle.

"I'm not engaged," she wrote on her Twitter page today. "I've worn the same ring on this finger since November! People just wanna find something to [talk] about! It's a topaz people!"

The couple did little to dismiss the gossip over the weekend and the extra publicity did not harm Liam's movie The Hunger Games at the box office as it broke records and brought in $155 million.

Miley and Liam have dated on and off for three years and she recently gushed about how proud she is of his success.

"I'm so excited, this year has just been amazing and Liam deserves it," she told Access Hollywood. "There's so many people out there that I think don't even know what he's capable of and I can't wait until people see it!".
