The flamboyant runway diva shot to fame as a mentor and judge on hit show Americas Next Top Model, and has enjoyed a hugely successful career as a catwalk model.

Miss J - real name Alexander Jenkins - got his first break as model when he was a teenager, after French couturier Jean-Paul Gaultier went to New York looking for unprofessional models.

Miss J was incredibly nervous on the day of his first casting, and has admitted he wasnt wearing underwear in a preview for the show When I Was 17.

The gorgeous fashionista had to drum up the confidence to attend iconic designer Jean-Pauls audition, and told himself if was going to succeed he would need to show plenty of character.

[When I was 17 I thought] I cant be a model, theres nothing perfect about me. My skins too dark, my nose is too wide, my lips are too full, but I think I thought, Why not?

I thought to myself whats gonna make me stand out at casting? I just thought personality, be yourself, I had nothing else to sell, he explained. (C) Cover Media
