(Cover) - EN Star Style - Michael Jackson's Thriller jacket has sold for $1.8 million at auction.
The leather jacket was worn by the late American superstar in his iconic 1983 music promo where he is seen dancing with a troupe of zombies.
The black and red calf leather jacket was one of two used for the legendary shoot. The other one is owned by the Jackson estate.
The garment, which is signed by the singer, was sold by Julien's auction house in Beverly Hills to a Texas gold trader.
It was bought by Milton Verret of Austin, Texas, who plans to use it to raise money for children's charities. The trader, who bid in person for the jacket, says he is excited at the prospect of owning such an iconic piece of musical history.
"It is one of the most important pieces of rock'n'roll memorabilia in history," he said.
Some of the proceeds from the sale will go to an animal preserve in California where Michael's two Bengal tigers, Thriller and Sabu, are living.
There were more of Michael's items sold at the prestigious auction, including one of the singer's wigs and a glove he wore to the American Music Awards in 1984. (C) Cover Media
