October 11, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games has been a huge success not only in terms of the number of medals that India has been able to bag in the tournament but also the performances at the opening ceremony last week. And the success does not seem to end here. Singer Mohit Chauhan known for his melodious and soulful music was the talk of the Commonwealth village on Friday evening. With music from several instruments like dholaks, tablas, drums, the flute, guitar, the keyboard and harmonica for company, Bollywoods favorite singer sung for the present audience, the popular tracks from his Hindi films. The program was an effort to celebrate the love and friendship shared between all the participating nations in the 2010 tournament.

Among those present in the audience of the 500-seater stadium were sports persons and the general audience. As the singer delivered one hit after another, the audience chanted out cries of Once more, once more! Several jigs and distribution of free soft drinks among the audience in between the songs of the popular singer only helped to make the mood inside the open air stadium jubilant.

While most of the songs sung by Mohit Chauhan on Friday evening were his own tracks from the various Bollywood films that he has been a part of, the singer also paid tribute to legendary Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan through the rendition of his song Tere Bin Nahin Lagda in his personal style. The Commonwealth Games committee will host several such programs in the coming days.
