Munnis Foray Into Pakistans Political Life

7th December 2010

December 7, 2010 (Sampurn Wire):Its been more than two months now that Bollywood blockbuster Dabangg first hit theaters and while Salman Khan may have wowed the audience with his Chulbul Pandey act, it is Munni Malaika Arora Khan who has gained the most from this project. According to reports in the media, Malaika Arora Khan is now not only the item queen of India but has won hearts in Pakistan too. And not only the common man, the nations politicians are also cashing in on the popularity of Munni!

If reports are to be believed, Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, the leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party was heard taking a dig at opposition party Pakistan Muslim League-N using the words of the most popular song in India today. Apparently, Imtiaz Safdar Warraich wanted to convey that his party was being misunderstood for the wrongdoings of another party, for which he said Munni badnaam hui darling tere liye (Munni here refers to PPP and Darling to PML-N)!

And it is not only the politicians. According to reports there are quite a number of girls and women in Pakistan who are named Munni. Instead of being happy about the fact that their name has become a national identity, the Munnis of Pakistan are literally scared to go out on the streets. Shahida Munni, a resident of Lahore says that a group of boys are always ready to taunt her, singing the song or blaring it out on their radio sets.

It looks like the Munnis of Pakistan have indeed become badnaam after Dabangg hit theaters! The same however cannot be said about Malaika Arora Khan who has incidentally enjoying the status of the badnaam girl of India and Pakistan.
