The idol of cinema and theatre, Naseeruddin Shah turns a year older today. A man of great respect and immense capability, he has come a long way entertaining us with his best performance.

Shah was born in Uttar Pradesh. He is a descendant of the 19th-century warlord Jan Fishan Khan. Born in a family filled with power and skills, Shah had it in him naturally.

As he grew up and completed his graduation, he later attended the National School of Drama in Delhi.

He has worked in many Bollywood movies like 'Nishant', 'Aakrosh', 'Sparsh', 'Mirch Masala' and more. Besides Hindi, he has also starred in many Hollywood projects like 'Monsoon Wedding' and 'The League of Extraordinary Gentleman' where he played the role of Captain Nemo in the latter.

Naseeruddin, along with Tom Alter and Benjamin Gilani formed a theatre group called Motley Prodctions. A very active member of Parellel Cinema and the theatre group, Shah has also worked along with his wife Ratna Pathak Shah.

His work has earned him numerous awards in his career, including the National Film Awards, Filmfare Awards and Best Actor Award. He has also been honoured with both the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan.
