(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Natalie Portman has given birth to a boy.

The actress announced she was expecting her first child with dancer Benjamin Millepied last year, at the same time she revealed they are engaged. The pair opted not to find out the sex of the child before he was born, and are said to be thrilled with the new arrival.

The couple are thought to be relaxing at their New York home with their son at the moment.

Further details, such as the child's name and birth weight, haven't yet been released.

Natalie and Benjamin met while they were shooting Black Swan. She played troubled ballerina Nina Sayers in the movie, a role which won her a best actress Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe. Benjamin was a choreographer on the picture and also had a small part, which Natalie referred to when picking up her Golden Globe award earlier this year.

"You might remember [Benjamin] in the movie as the guy who, when they asked, 'Would you sleep with that girl?' he's like, 'Pssh, no.'

"He's the best actor! It's not true, he totally wants to sleep with me," she joked.

While expecting, Natalie revealed she found the public's reaction strange. She viewed the pregnancy as private and had to get used to well-wishers congratulating her as she walked down the street. (C) Cover Media
