Nicole Richie has revealed that her little girl doesn't know she has clothing lines named after her.

The 30-year-old reality star turned fashionista opened up to Flare magazine about trying to keep her young daughter Harlow Winter Kate out of the spotlight.

Although the four-year-old was the inspiration to Nicole's growing style empire, the mother-of-two told the publication that she just wants her to have a normal upbringing.

"She has no idea that she has two lines named after her," Nicole said. "I try and let her be a kid."

Nicole designs fashions for her House of Harlow and Winter Kate collections.

The busy working mother also has two-year-old son Sparrow James Midnight with rocker husband Joel Madden but says she believes it is their responsibility to set good examples to their children and not that of other celebrities.

"I was talking to a friend of mine who has two little girls about a certain singer whose name I won't mention," she recalled.

"He was really upset, saying she wasn't a good role model for his kids. But here's the thing; that girl is 20-something, so she shouldn't be a role model to your little girls.

"She's human, and it's unrealistic to put people on a pedestal and expect that they're not going to make mistakes."

Nicole, who was a wild child herself, revealed that she now has a calmer life and enjoys getting up early so that she can prepare herself for her busy day ahead.

"I wake up at 5.30 in the morning, every morning, so I can be alone," she said. "I don't have anywhere to be, but mentally, I like to go downstairs and drink my coffee I'm telling you, it changes my entire day."

Nichole Richie will be a mentor in upcoming series Fashion Star which also has Jessica Simpson and Elle Macpherson on the show.
