No Indira Gandhi for Vidya

6th October 2010

October 6, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Filmmaker Krishna Shahs plan to make a film on Indias late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi is pending since the last one year. Initially, when the movie was announced on her 92nd birth anniversary on November 19, 2009, the name of Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit was finalized to play the role of the strong leader of the country.

However, since then, many other big names have been doing the rounds. The list includes the names of leading Bollywood actresses such as Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. Now, if reports are to be believed, unconventional and talented actress Vidya Balan was also approached to play the role of Indira Gandhi. But, she has reportedly denied playing the role of the most dynamic political leader of India.

Vidya is currently very busy with other projects. She has already started working on director Sujoy Ghoshs new film. In this movie, the actress will be seen playing a pregnant widow seeking revenge. The theme of the movie sounds like the popular Hollywood film Kill Bill.

Krishna Shah has researched thoroughly on this legendary politician for the last 20 years. He has conducted several interviews with journalists, politicians, bureaucrats, military men, writers and the contemporaries of Indira Gandhi. Shah has also read many books to deliver an authentic movie on her life.

Hope, Shah gets his Indira Gandhi soon so that we can watch the legend on screen!
