'Oka Romantic Crime Katha' - Movie Review

19th June 2012

Director: Sunil Kumar Reddy

Cast: Gayathri, Divya Swapna, Bobby and Sai Anil

Rating: 2/5

A Sorry Story

Perhaps taking a cue from the Bollywood flick 'Shaitan', the movie 'Oka Romantic Crime Katha' deals with the subject of misguided teenagers. But contrary to what was claimed during its promotions, unfortunately the film is neither educative nor entertaining.

Though the story is good, the execution bit and the uninteresting screenplay makes one feel very uncomfortable while watching the film. With the hopes of keeping it real, the movie goes overboard at times.

A poor research on the life of youngsters is a major setback of 'Oka Romantic Crime Katha' which is over stuffed with obscene scenes. As a result, the film written and directed by Sunil Kumar Reddy turns out to be a dull affair.

And here is how the story goes: Tanmayi (Gayathri) a class 10 student, Anjali (Divya Swapna) an intermediate and Veena (Bobby) who is studying engineering meet regularly at a bus-stop while boarding the bus to their school and college respectively.

Veena falls in love with Kiran (Sai Anil) who calls himself a 'short film-maker' and Tanmayi falls in love with this guy Sanjay (Manoj Nandam). While Kiran is a spoiled brat, Sanjay is a true lover. Later, how their life goes through twists and turns is the crux of the film.

Sunil Kumar who fails to extract the performance from the young stars also adds too many loop-holes in the screenplay.

After all said, 'Oka Romantic Crime Katha' is a good idea which comepletely goes bad due to a poor narration and technical values.

Better luck next time, director Sir.
